I just returned home from a wonderful, soul-rich trip to one of  my heritage cities: Savannah, Georgia. My sweet grandma grew up in Savannah and so did many of my relatives. My dad spent every summer of his childhood in Savannah and thus it is a huge part of my identity.

Our first night that we arrived I snapped this photo just minutes before sunset: the trees were thick with moss and golden hour was drawing nigh. I’ve been thinking so much about what’s happened in our nation, especially my city of St. Paul, and this portrait expresses my grief and pain over recent events…
