weddings: katie + kevin

I’ve had the pleasure of knowing Katie for nearly a decade (yikes!). She was the lovely, kind, and sweet supervisor at my daycare job all through undergrad. As I’ve built and grown my business, she’s been so incredibly supportive: always being a great friend on top of a photography client! I’ve had the honor of seeing her become a mom to two wonderful kiddos and when I noticed a sparkly engagement ring on her hand a few years ago I couldn’t help but smile.

Adding weddings to my photography menu has been something I’ve thought very seriously about. Katie and Kevin were a delight to work with. They wed on a beautiful, stormy Saturday at the courthouse in downtown St. Paul. It was a lovely as you could imagine.

The judge was so kind to invite me up into his cambers with Katie and Kevin. It was so interesting to listen to the governmental side of marriage. Pretty soon we were headed downstairs for the ceremony! It was short, sweet, and full of love. I applaud couples who make their wedding day a reflection of them. It was a lovely moment that totally embodied the couple.

Since it was raining we made lemonade out of lemons by taking some bridals and family shots under the shelter of a beautiful building on the St. Kate’s campus. Katie and Kevin’s family joined us for some group shots before preparing for dinner. A two day affair, Katie and Kevin beautifully decorated local Luci Restaurant for a small, intimate dinner. I loved the pretty flowers outside their front door, each detail was positively lovely, and again, reflective of who they are.  collage4collage5

Saturday marked the beautiful, outdoor celebration near the falls. Again Katie and Kevin created an elegant and relaxed environment for their guests. I loved running into old daycare co-workers and kiddos who have grown significantly (of course!). It was an easy going, festive, and relaxed celebration complete with an amazingly delicious, portable pizza oven.

Ultimately it was an honor and a joy. I’m so grateful that these two (four, including kiddos!) asked me to be the person to capture their wedding day. I love them dearly and can’t wait to see what the future holds for them.
